Honble Wm Medill

Mr. Joseph Sinclair late Superintendent of the Miami Emigration having filed his claims for services for allowance, before the Honble Indian Department.

I beg leave respectfully to file certified copies of his three receipts for the sum of $418. advanced to him during his service by Alexis Coquillard acting contractor, with the request that this amount may be deducted from the allowance made to Mr. Sinclair.

Mr. Coquillard was under the impression that it was his duty to furnish this money when demanded by Mr. Sinclair, and that it would facilitate the emigration; and believing, as I do, that if not withheld from his allowance that the money may be lost to the contractors. I solicit that the Honble Department will further extend its carefull and prompt assistance in meting out justice to those who have done the labour and incurred the risk in this business.

With much respect
Your obt & Humble Srvt
