The undersigned beg leave

respectfully to state that the first emigrating party
 +
of Miamies was started from Peru Indiana on
 +
the 6th of October 1846, and arrived at the
 +
Country set a part for them West of the
 +
Mississippi on the 9th of November 1846
 +
as will appear by the receipt of Sub Agent Vaughn,
 +
and the report of the Superintendant
 +
of the Emigration Mr Sinclear-- this party
 +
consisted 328 Indians and included all we could get hold of, of  those who were
 +
required to emigrate with the exception of
 +
some 28 or 30 who were permitted to remain
 +
behind + gather their crops, under the assurance
 +
from them that as soon as that was accomplished they would emigrate themselves without any expense to the contractors or government; this they failed to do; and in the spring of 1847 we received orders to emigrate them.

Mr. Coquillard immediately commenced collecting all the Indians he could find in the country and succeeded in getting at the camp, 78 which included every thing in the shape of an Indian in the Country with the exception of those who are permitted
