not Miamies, and entitled to be removed. It will be for the department to decide whether they shall be removed or not, and at whose expense. Provision is made in the treaty of 1833 for the removal of these Indians. In the removal of these remaining Indians I would beg leave to suggest the propriety of dispensing with the superintendent of emigration as we have already been at great expense and trouble and it seems unnecessary in so small a company as the one to remove. As some of these persons removed may return again as has already been the case, and that we may know where the end of this emigration contact is to be, will you have the goodness to designate all these who are to be removed, and inform me whether we are to be compelled to remove any who have once been removed.
