[illegible] Pierce, Sub Agency November 5 nd 1846. [illegible], Agreeable to instruction from you I have accompanied the Miami Indians in their emigration from Peru, Ia. to [illegible] Mo. From careful observation I can state that the contractors have amply provided the Indians with provisions for their subsistence on the route, of good quality, and entirely satisfactory to the Indians themselves. No complaint of scarcity of provision has been made by any Indian within my knowledge, to which the contractors have not immediately attended- and I am acquainted with many [illegible] in which the Indians [illegible] with abundance have wasted much of their provisions.
