Gage river sub agency November 5 nd 1846. Sin I was employed by the contractor for emigration of the Miami Indians to drive the ponies belonging to the emigrating Miamis from Indiana to the mouth of the [illegible] river in the state of Missouri. I had the services of eleven men who were employed by the contractor to [illegible] in driving and managing the ponies; I was furnished with money by the contractor to defray the expense of the trip including the subsistence requisite for the ponies. We left Peru, Indiana with the ponies on the 7th day of October, and arrived at the mouth of the [illegible] river, and on their arrival there they were delivered to their new homes here where they arrived this day. From the day we started from Peru until our arrival here, why attention in our power was paid to the proper feeding, and care of the ponies under our charge, and the means furnished by this contract for that purpose were
