I was employed by the contractor

for emigration of the Miami Indians to drive

the ponies belonging to the emigrating Miamis
 +
from Indiana to the mouth of the Kanzas river
 +
in the state of Missouri. I had the services
 +
of eleven men who were employed by the
 +
contractor to assist in driving and managing
 +
the ponies; I was furnished with money by the
 +
contractor to defray the expense of the trip
 +
including the subsistence requisite for the ponies.

We left Peru, Indiana with the ponies on the

7<sup>th</sup> day of October, and arrived at the mouth

of the Kanzas river on the 1<sup>st</sup> day of November 1846. The ponies were properly fed and cared for during eht trip from Peru to the mouth of Kanzas river, and on their arrival there they
