Osage River [fur] agency at Miami [Lands], [Nov] 5th 1846.
Sir, the emigrating Miamies left the mouth of Kansas River on Monday the 2d [], and they have been arriving here during yesterday & today, a portion of them rode their poneys, and they [ae-idue] with the baggage was brought through by the [contractor] in [waggens]. [We] had one more death on the 3d. ( a boy of about 16) [he] had been a long time sick and was improving in health [] by [imprudence] he brought about a [], this [] in all, seven deaths that have occurred during the emigration. on the 4th of [-ent] an [exhuss] to [Col vaughaw] with a letter from me [whortinng] my arrival here, and [] this early attention to the acception of the Miamies, and [hopes] soon to have the [] of [maleeing] [] acquaintance; and of handing [] [] him the Indians under my charge in compliance with your directions.
