sir i have the honor to enclose here with as life of such the Miamians as are removing to the lands assigned them west of the Mississippi. together with list of such other of the [ill.] as are not permitted by the [ill.] resolution of congress or by treaty [ill.] to remain in Indiana and receive their annuities there. those who have fled are perused by Mr. Elton john a trader who resides in the vicinity they have left and to whom most of them are [ill.] contractor for the emigration have entered such a committed agreement with mr. john to pay them for delivering at their homes [ill.] such as the fugitives as he can find. i have not much hope of success for Mr john as the runaways are those who were concerned in the murders that were committed last summer and the year before on the Mississippi runway, and on that account have for a long time avoided meeting with the residence of the tribe. if they choose to go with the [ill.]and are received by them i think it would be much better to let them remain there then to throw them again with the Miamians . signatures
