I have the  honor  to enclose herewith a list of such the Miamies as are removing to the lands assigned them west of the Mississippi, together with lists of such others of  the tribe  as are  not  permitted by the Joint resolution of Congress or by treaty stipulations to  remain in Indiana and receive their annuities there.  Those who have fled are persued  by Mr. Ezekiel French, a trader who resides in the  vicinity  they have  left, and to whom most of them  are indebted; the contractor for the emigration have entered into a written agreement with Mr French to pay him for delivering  at  their homes West  such of the fugitives as he can find.

I have not much hope of success for Mr French, as amongst the runaways are those who were concerned in the murders that were committed last summer and the year before on the Mississeneway, and on that account have for a long time avoided meeting with the residue of the tribe. If they choose to go with the Pot-a-wat-i-mies and are received by them I think it would be much better to let them remain there than to throw them again with the Miamies .
