I have had the honor to receive your letter of the 7th in relation to the emigration of the Miamis and have called upon the chiefs & head men of the tribe to meet me in council at the forks of the Wabash on Saturday of this week, when I shall urge upon them a compliance with the treaty stipulations with the Government. Your remarks on the subject of the contract that received the sanction of the President last winter have been and will continue to be of very great service to me and by holding that matter suspended I shall be able to secure the aid of those interested in removing the Indians. If the necessary receipts should be tendered, I hope that matter will not be consummated at present. Very respectfully Your Obdt Servant Jos. Sinclear Col.
