I have not been able to get the name and age of each Indian, but I have given you the numbers as given to me by the Chiefs in Council, and I presume you will find it very nearly correct, enough so to enable you to make a division of their annuities without doing injustice to either portion of the tribe.

I explained to the chiefs the object of taking this list, and the importance to them of getting it correct.
