Whereas By a contract heretofore enclosed entered into by Thomas Dowling with the United States of America for the removal of the Miami Tribe of Indians from their present location in Indiana to the country set apart for them west of the Mississippi River. It is stipulated that the said Thomas Dowling shall be at the expense of furnishing a Physician to accompany the said Indians in their emigration and as Joseph Sinclear superintendent of emigration of the Miamis has appointed Graham N. Fiteh of Loganport such Physician. We the undersigned assignees of said Dowling of said Contract do for ourselves and for Thomas Dowling fully consent the said appointment and that the said Graham N. Fitch shall be entitled to receive for his services as such Physician per day to commence so soon as he shall report himself in readiness for service after the Indians commence assembling preparatory to their emigration in addition to which his actual traveling expense are to be paid and the necessary medicines furnished by us.
