This indebtedness is now the only serious obstacle in the way of the emigration, and if it is arranged in any way, I would suggest that no debt against any member of the tribe who is not permitted to remain in this country, and who does not emigrate, shall be included in the same arrangement - this would induce the claimants to look up every Member of the Tribe and secure a Complete removal. If an examination of their debts should take place, although I will be careful not to become identified with it, I will endeavor to have the individual debts reported which shall make the aggregate - I have received yours of March 13 enclosed with the order of the President of the United States for payment of the debts of the Miamis as for their contract of 27 Oct 1845 that has been to me a very vexatious matter and I am really glad that is is disposed of.
