to know whether they were [illeg] proceed to move to the country allotted to them.
After my stating to them the object of my business, their reply through their Interpreter, was that, they had made no calculations ^of remaining as that Season had come to the conclusion that they were [there was?] one annuity yet to be paid them at that place and they wished to pay off their Debts and appoint a Delegation to go and look at the country assigned them, and they would then be prepared to move West, as early in the spring of this year, as I wished or seen proper.
The contract that I purchased of Thos Dowling Esq of Indiana for the removal of said Miami Indians, I am fully aware has to be carried on under his name.
And I design leaving for Fort Wayne early in March to carry into execution the said Contract, and would be uch plased to hear from you by return mail.
