Sir,
Since [illegible] morning's [illegible] with you. I have read a letter from the west in which is is stated, in speaking of the approaching emigration of the Miamis, that "Col. Madill has written back [illegible] Sinclair threatening [illegible] force." I trust my information is [illegible]. I know that you have repeatedly said no force ^ should be used in the emigration of those people + I know know farther the the threat [illegible] is can do no good. They are adamant as such that, which has even [illegible] been made + will not [illegible] ... , if not blood shed will surely result from the latter. Why is it that they [illegible] treated like dogs? Cannot the [illegible] findings of humanity be exercised in their behalf?
