The sick had mostly improved in health, and they were all finely accommodated on Board the steamer, an excellent boat: and Mr Alexis Coquillard the acting contractor, will make [illeg] arangements for them in St Louis for ascending the Missouri River.

I have a dominant Interest with Messrs A. Coquillard and Saml Edsall, Brother in Law of J. Sinclear Esqr, the Superintendent in the Removing Contract, + have Inclined money liabilities to the amount of $25,000 for its Execution, but I was not to render any Personal Services, being otherwise Extensively Engaged in Business -- yet I went to Peru about the 1st inst. and assisted Major Jouett + Mr Coquilard in assembling the Indians and conducting them to this place, and the (Mr. Co.) leaves here with ample funds to Execute the Contract.

I have had some trouble, peculiar to these transactions, 1st - a demand of a Bonus or [illegible]s of some $5000;in one instance; and 2d in another, of the surrender of this 1/3d interest in this Removal contract (supposed to be worth some 2 or $3000) or else my interest
