William Medill, Esq. Com. of Indian Affairs
Sir: your favor postmarked February 20, reached this post office in due course of mail, when I was absent: and I take the earliest occasion to acknowledge its receipt, after carefully noting its contents.
The appointment of Col Sinclair, as Emigration Agent of the Miamies, will, I have no doubt, prove entirely acceptable to those interested. It is certainly so to me.

An earlier movement would not be prudent owing to the variable character of our early spring months.
I am, sir , with respect, Your obedient servant Thos Dowling
