should be removed and furnished on the rout, in such manner as I would point out. He called on the principal chief on his way home giving him the same assurance - Much prejudice is to be contended with - as to their mode of removal. The Potawatomies [on yellow river?] [illegible] who went on that way some of whom returned complained of that mode. Yet I do not dispair of success from the assurance Mr Dowling authorizes me to give them. As there are many things to settle can they emigrate. Their movements are so slow, I trust you well can long [ear long, like before soon?] permit a counsel with them. I have strong hopes they will emigrate the coming spring.
