By the mail two days ago received your letter of 23d & 24t April. conveying me instructions on the subject of removing the Miamies - informing me of the desire of the President of the United States and the Secretary of war, that it be effected at once, - I have long felt that the speedy removal of the Miamies was necessary to their very existence as a tribe. I have repeatedly empressed it upon several of their leading men as a measure they ought to adopt at once. Your letters of instructions will more enable me to urge it upon them officially -- You are fully sensible of the tardiness of all Indian movements, especially of that of emigrating - as well as the obstacles thrown in the way by those whose cupidity induces them them, to oppose a removal, I fear some of such individuals may be found amongst the Miamies -- So far as any urgent entreaties of mine will effect, they shall not be wanting.  I am [Illegible] at a loss to know your wishes - do you wish me to call them together at some convenient front and hold a talk with them if so, an expense although small will be incurred that I have no authority to make.
