Sir,
Having learned that Kouassee could be found at his cabbin I went a few days ago to select the section of land granted to him by the provisions of the Treaty of 1838. Agreeable to the intructions contained in yoru letter of the 6th of March last, I found his orchard and improvement, situated in Section Number 14 of Township Number thirty One North of Range number nine east, and I have selected that section for the one granted him by Treaty of 1838 with which selection [illeg] satisfied. May I be permitted to request that a patent be forwarded as soon as convenient to Kowassee for Sec 14 Town 31 of Range 9--It is of course situated on Seek's reserve and embraces the point named in the grant.
very respectfully your dt. sevt Allen Hamilton
