Sir

I beg leave to submit for your consideration the Inclosed Letter of Major W. R. Jouett, in relation to the Removal of the Miami Indians:--

Major Jouetts Letter was solicited to lay before you, and I hope it will satisfy you that none of the Miamies were permitted to remain behind "to gather their crops" or for any other purpose whatever by that officer, haveing command of the Removal, or by the Contractors, or any other person authorized to give such permission.

It was no doubt an [order?] of Mr. Sinclairs, growing out of the circumstance of the 4 chiefs Ko-assee, Mezequah, White Loon, & Rivarre, who assisted to make the removal, but left their Families behind, saying they would take them West hereafter at their own expence, if they liked the country,--had they been [found? to talk them?], they had the means to bring them back & Lands & Farms on this country to live on.

Mr. Coquillard has started West we hear with all he could get to go and has I presume advised you on the subject.
